Runners registered for the upcoming Walt Disney World Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend were greeted with an email this morning asking them to link their existing race registrations to runDisney’s new website which is now integrated with guests’ Disney accounts. The email states, “We’ve been working to create a more streamlined race registration experience for runDisney participants.”

Once linked, users are taken to a brand new runDisney website that includes information about runners’ current race registrations, upcoming and suggested events, and the ability to purchase products. It’s all integrated with current Disney accounts that contain passholder, hotel reservation, and fastpass information.
Fans of runDisney have long hoped for a replacement to runDisney’s affiliation with the much-maligned Active.com race registration system and it appears that this new system is Disney’s own proprietary solution.
Speculation that runDisney was moving away from Active.com for its system gained momentum in April when runDisney abruptly postponed registration for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend event until July 2018. Wine & Dine runners now have access to this new site and it is expected that come July, Marathon Weekend runners will be registering for races seamlessly through their Disney accounts and without the clumsy Active.com site that many users reviled.
